据外媒报道，澳大利亚一项研究证实，自来水加氟有助儿童牙齿健康，这种做法得到政府部门认可。然而反对自来水加氟团体（Fluoride Free WA）则计划向政府请愿，停止这种做法。
西澳卫生厅厅长戴伊（John Day）说，自该政策于50年前开始实施以来，超过92%的西澳人喝到了加氟自来水。

A study of tooth decay in 11,000 West Australian children has reinforced the dental benefits of drinking fluoridated water.
The research found children in areas without a fluoridated water supply in the South West were 1.5 times more likely to have decayed or missing teeth, compared to children in Perth wher the water is fluoridated.
